This prestigious event, held to commemorate Indian Independence Day, will take place on Saturday 12th August 2023 at the iconic DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. In a unique fusion of cultures at the intersection of BRICS this year's event aims to unite communities by embracing the shared values of tradition, creativity, and unity.
The theme for this year's Carnival is "Festivals of India," where the rich and diverse tapestry of Indian heritage, culture, and traditions will be celebrated. This vibrant event aims to bring the spirit of India's festivals to Johannesburg and provide a unique opportunity for the Indian diaspora and the wider community to immerse themselves in the colours, flavours, and traditions of India.

Mr. Mahesh Kumar, the Consul General of India in Johannesburg, emphasized the significant milestone of 30 years of diplomatic relations between South Africa and India during the India Day SA India Carnival which will include a special exhibition showcasing the strong bond between the two nations.
Scheduled from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. India Day SA India Carnival promises to be a day filled with captivating cultural programs, a dazzling fashion show, intercultural performances showcasing the fusion of Indian and South African arts, and an array of delightful food stalls offering authentic Indian cuisine. Additionally, there will be non-food stalls featuring traditional crafts, art, and merchandise, allowing attendees to indulge in a shopping experience filled with Indian craftsmanship.
