The stage is set for a literary revolution as the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) in partnership with Academic and Non-Fiction Authors Association of South Africa (ANFASA) to unveil the eagerly awaited 2023/24 Call for Manuscripts. This momentous announcement marks the vibrant kick-off of the DSAC Publishing Hub initiative, igniting the spark that will illuminate untold stories, celebrate the South African heritage, and empower authors across South Africa.
The DSAC Publishing Hub main purpose is to develop and promote South African literature by supporting authors and revitalizing the publishing industry. As part of this commitment, proficient and passionate authors are invited to submit their manuscripts for consideration. This is a remarkable opportunity for authors to share their unique perspectives, contribute to the literary tapestry of the nation, and take part in shaping the South African literature.

Manuscripts penned in official South African languages, including Khoisan languages, are enthusiastically encouraged.
Support for Authors
Successful authors will receive a grant of R25,000.00 for content development and will be paired with experienced publishers to guide them through the publishing process.

Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format. The submission window for manuscript closes on 8 September 2023, and submissions received after this date will not be considered. In pursuit of these goals, DSAC has partnered with ANFASA to appoint four reputable South African publishers with a demonstrated track record of excellence. These publishers will play an instrumental role in producing five books each from the manuscripts submitted through the Open Call for manuscript submissions.
Scope of the Publishers' Role
The chosen Publishers will be responsible for the successful production, publishing, marketing, and distribution of the successful books. While editing services will be managed separately, publishers will contribute significantly to the realization of the DSAC Publishing Hub’s objective.
