Join the celebration at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, on Saturday, September 23, 2023. In a grand showcase of their illustrious 25th Anniversary, Natya Anjali’s production Dakshina, is an opulent dance spectacle that epitomizes their enduring legacy. This cherished cultural brand has illuminated hearts for a quarter-century and continues to shine brighter than ever.

Dakshina, a Sanskrit word imbued with profound meaning, translates to "an offering in gratitude." Through this extraordinary performance, Natya Anjali will pay homage to their revered Gurus (teachers) and mentors, invoking blessings and commemorating their generous guidance.

Founded in 1998 by the visionary Subashni Naicker, Natya Anjali stands as a paragon of dedication to the art of Bharatanatyam. The mission has always been to nurture and mentor students in this classical South Indian dance form within an engaging and stimulating environment. Through teaching and captivating performances, Natya Anjali is unwavering in its commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, making this art accessible to a diverse and appreciative audience.

Bharatanatyam, with its meticulously codified gestures and movements, is a testament to the dedication and passion required for mastery.

Dakshina, choreographed and directed by the eminent Subashni Naicker, promises to be an evening of enchantment. The performance will feature 45 students who will showcase the beauty of Bharatanatyam and folk dance to the melodious tunes of Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil, and Telegu songs. The music selection spans from traditional (Carnatic) to Fusion and Contemporary styles. Choosing to present Dakshina close to Heritage Day underscores Natya Anjali's commitment to honouring their place in South Africa's vibrant cultural tapestry.
