Statement by Mncedisi Ndlovu & Sedumedi Attorneys (“MNS”) on behalf of the Motsomi family on the passing of senior associate Mampho Motsomi

The family of Mampho Motsomi and her colleagues at MNS Attorneys, are appealing to be afforded space to grieve the loss of senior associate attorney, Mampho Motsomi, who died on Wednesday night, 22 January 2020, after being stabbed multiple times.

“This is a tragic loss,” said MNS chairman Mncedisi Ndlovu. “Mampho’s family and our firm have been deeply affected by her death and we ask to be given space to mourn Mampho’s passing in privacy”.

“All of us who were close to Mampho know what she meant to us as a colleague, a friend or a family member, and we are focused on cherishing her contribution to our lives and to the society she lived and worked in”.

Ndlovu added: “We jointly, as family and employer, condemn the action of the person who was responsible for her untimely passing, and all those who stoop to gender-based violence”.

At MNS, we will remember Mampho as a kind, intelligent and generous human being. She was one of our most talented attorneys, who was well-placed to play a leading role in the legal fraternity. Sadly, that is not to be.

We are pleased to note that a police investigation is already underway. The family and MNS trust that there will be a speedy judicial process to ensure accountability and justice.

“As a firm, we are devastated by the loss, and share our condolences with the family.”
