From entrepreneurs to corporate leaders: the inaugural ‘She Powers SA’ Women’s Leadership Conference is purposely focusing on driving an ecosystem to empower and promote women participation in business across sectors and at all levels of the economy.

The Inaugural #ShePowersSA Women’s Leadership Conference to be held in Johannesburg on 15 November 2018 is determined to offer solution based intervention, create more access and buffer challenges and barriers that preclude women from participating equally in an economy driven by a male dominated ecosystem. Alleviating poverty and converting more opportunities that translate to jobs is high on the agenda of #ShePowersSA

Under the theme ‘The Psychology Of Leading In Turbulent Times’, speakers will discuss opportunities available to women, the eradication of barriers to economic participation and increasing women participation in the world of business in both the public and private sectors.

“As we embark on our first She Powers SA Women’s Leadership Conference in November, we wish to draw attention to and advocate for issues that hamper efforts to achieve gender parity in workplaces. We believe that the economic cost of few opportunities for female participation in business necessitates that all stakeholders should address this issue in terms of advocacy, education, policy and economic support systems for women” says Nomsa Nteleko, convener of the conference.

Founded by Theo Tshanga and Nomsa Nteleko, She Powers SA also aims to determine where the gaps lie in the policy and legal frameworks with both the community and individuals responsible to assist in finding lasting solutions for women to participate in all levels of the economy.

While the South African government and private sector has shown its commitment to stem all forms of women emancipation and economic participation through various policy and legislative measures, despite this, female leadership and avenues to partake in business continue unabated, with massive social and economic costs to females and the broader society at large.

Speakers for the leadership conference will include award winning singer Lira who will address audiences on ‘Leading Beyond Limits’ alongside HR Executive, Phumeza Pepeta who will talk ‘Leading Yourself’ and Tanya Miranda leading a discussion on ‘People centric Leadership’. Chartered Accountant (CA) Senzani Mudau will speak on ‘Leading to accelerate change’; Akona Ngcuka tackling the subject of ‘Authentic Leadership’ and Siphokazi Simandla who is the programme director will address the theme of the day “The Psychology of leading in turbulent times”.

“She Powers SA is dedicated to creating platforms that will educate and help uplift the lives of women through economic participation. The vision behind this leadership conference is to be a catalyst in enabling an ecosystem for inclusive development across sectors and be a bridge across the divides in our country, so it is appropriate that we kick off the summit with this focus on the empowerment of women working on the margins of the economy, who have a great deal to offer in terms of creativity, innovation and unique business insights” adds Theo Tshanga Ziyana Business Consulting and Training.

This year’s conference will also focus on finding solutions and sharing best practices in addressing economic participation in various sectors of South African business,” says co-founder of the leadership conference, Nomsa Nteleko of OS Holdings.

The target audience for the conference includes CEOs, entrepreneurs, directors, divisional heads and executives at large. These groups have been identified as people who are lagging behind in accessing economic opportunities.
