Joburg Zoo Festival of Lights celebrates the festive season until 5th January 2020 with a jam packed programme of beautiful lights and great entertainment.

An exciting programme of beautiful lights, diverse live music, dance, food and much more. Huge, beautiful life size artistically produced animal metal sculptures which are fully illuminated will be on show at the Joburg Zoo Festival of Lights. These magnificent animal sculptures together with illuminated trees within the Zoo, combined with exciting live entertainment offerings is certainly not to be missed.

 

The live entertainment programme is jam packed with great artists and music. This week from Thursday until Sunday 15th December, we have Pops Mohammed on traditional instruments with Ashish Joshi. These are special performances to celebrate Pops Mohammed turning 70. We also have fantastic jazz with Time Zone Quartet led by accomplished pianist Avzal Ismail as well as the inspirational rhythms of the string quartet Kamva led by double bass player Viwe Mkhizwana, is an absolute treat for Joburg music lovers . This programme is specially curated to celebrate the Festival season and will feature a great song book of jazzy and classical festival rhythms. On the 13-15 December there is also cutting edge house and hip hop vibes presented by Sakhile Moleshi who toured extensively with mega international SA group Gold Fish.

 

The live entertainment will also feature acapella group Mamli and from the 17th onwards there is more jazz from Time Zone Quartet with a special performance by guitar wizard Billy Monama and soulful vocalist Zano including the acclaimed acapella group Komplete on Sunday 22nd Dec. After the 22nd of December there’s more jazz, dance and acapella.

The Festival is open daily from 7pm to 10pm (except Mondays), residents are invited to support the annual event as well as to visit the Joburg Zoo during the day. The Joburg Zoo boasts the Big Five on a sprawling 54 hectare site with animals from across all continents including rare species of animals from the Amazon

Tickets are available at R60 for kids & pensioners and R120 for adults online at www.joburgtheatre.com 0861 670 670 or www.webtickets.co.za and at selected Pick ‘n Pay stores (full list at www.webtickets.co.za/pnpoutlets.aspx). Patrons can also buy tickets by visiting the Zoo – only accepting card transactions for purchasing tickets or for walk-ins.
